VR Immersive Art Exhibition
Project Name: Immersive Fine Art VR Exhibition
Client: G Albi Studio
Project Overview:
Giuseppe Albi is an abstract artist who paints with acrylics on clear Lexan plastic panels. While building miniature physical models of his art, he noticed something amazing: the pieces looked absolutely incredible when you looked at them from the inside out.
To help everyone else see it from that exact perspective, KOVR stepped in. We took his artwork and digital designs and brought them straight into a virtual reality environment. Now, gallery visitors can step right inside the art for a mind-blowing, 360-degree view.
Devices:
Meta Quest 3
Meta Quest 3s
Challenges and Solutions:
The Challenge: Confusing Software and Clunky Menus
Showing custom 360 videos at public events usually means relying on standard, off-the-shelf media players. It quickly becomes a bottleneck. Manning the exhibits himself, Giuseppe had to constantly coach each visitor on how to navigate the complex default VR user interface. Even worse, visitors, many of whom had never touched a headset before, had to struggle with confusing dashboard menus just to switch between videos. Giuseppe wanted a turnkey way to simplify the controls so that navigation was completely frictionless for any user.
The Solution: A Seamless, Controller-Free Experience
KOVR built a custom standalone app for Meta Quest hardware that hardcodes the artwork assets directly into the software. To make the exhibit completely plug-and-play, we used native hand-tracking to ditch physical controllers entirely. Visitors can explore the showcase using one simple, natural gesture: they just look at their left hand and tap a virtual button floating right on their palm to instantly hop to the next video.
Results & Impact:
The final result is an effortless virtual art installation that anyone can enjoy, with zero tech skills required. The artist has already taken this easy-to-use setup on the road, successfully showing it off at major public events like K-Days and a dedicated gallery exhibit at Harcourt House.
"When I went into the KOVR office to pick up the headset where they installed my first VR image, I really, truly felt like I had experienced something I had never seen before." — Giuseppe Albi, Client
By replacing off-the-shelf media players with a custom built VR experience, this project proves that standalone mobile optimization and simplified UX can turn complex digital designs into an interactive, self-running display, perfect for trade shows, art fairs, and marketing events.
